Experience genuine grand southern living at its best at Marlsgate Plantation located in Scott, Arkansas. It is cooled by the breezes off nearby Bearskin Lake, and shaded by huge pecan trees. It is home to David Paul Garner Jr. and family and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has received the Heart of Arkansas Award for outstanding efforts in promoting tourism in Arkansas. Marlsgate contains thirty-two rooms on its three floors. It houses more than ten thousand square feet of living space that includes a drawing room, dining room, music room, solarium, master bedroom, plantation office, sitting rooms, studies, and a kitchen and service wing. The outside of Marlsgate is graced with brick Ionic columns over 40 feet in height. A lot of information about the history of the mansion is given during the tour, which takes you through the grand Greek Revival style mansion. The structure is in great condition and has various signature Greek Revival aspects. This is another example of a grand mansion in a rural area of Arkansas used as a plantation house.
